The European Championships 2018 are estimated to attract a television audience of up to 1.03 billion people worldwide, with approximately 2,700 hours of events and 4,500 athletes taking part. Venues will spread from Berlin to Glasgow, across Scotland from Edinburgh to Loch Lomond. From diving to synchronised swimming, cycling track to BMX, gymnastics to rowing, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Not only are the European Championships a celebration of sport, they are also a celebration of culture, arts and bringing people together. As part of the championships, a fun-filled cultural programme called Festival 2018 will also be taking place during the 11 days of action. Festival 2018 will begin with an opening party in the heart of Glasgow’s scenic George Square followed by many exciting events, such as pop-up food markets, art installations, carnival street processions, musical performances and more.
